The magic of Mike and double standards!
I recently went to see the film Magic Mike and was surrounded in the cinema theater by many other drooling girls and the occasional unfortunate male that had been dragged there by his girlfriend! Whether there was any kind of story or plot was irrelevant as the non-stop male stripping and dry-humping was enough to keep you glued to the screen for the duration! I was particularly excited that one of my favourite pieces of man candy was cast in the movie, the one and only Joe Manganiello who plays werewolf Alcide Herveaux in True Blood.
Wouldn’t kick him out of bed for smelling like dog!
Indeed, I have been known to post pictures of these beautiful specimens on my facebook page accompanied by some rather unsavoury comments as have many of my friends! As if the release of this movie wasn’t enough to stir the female population into crazy hormonal overload the phenomenon that is 50 shades of grey is also swiftly doing the rounds and has become the fastest selling paperback of all time in the UK. Labelled as “Mummy porn” it is said to offer women a “holiday from their husbands”!!! Everybody is talking about it and everybody seems to be reading it! I haven’t actually read it yet, I’m not even sure if I will, but in any case I have gathered that there are some rather raunchy chapters in it that might make the church-goers amongst us blush!
How many boyfriends and husbands sit quietly in non-protest as their other halves obsess over these fantasy figures of men? Suffering in silence their ego is sure to be taking a battering if they suspect they may be being compared to these adonis like creatures? Now, let’s flip the coin and ask ourselves how the female population would react if our fellas were posting pictures of half-naked women on their facebook, going to the cinema in their hoards to watch a female stripper movie and reading novels about women who had sex like porn stars? There would be outrage! They would be accused of treating women like meat! There would be tears at bedtime as their own women wanted to know why they weren’t enough for them! Maybe the reason there isn’t a move called Magic Michelle is because it just wouldn’t be worth the hassle they would get! What’s good for the goose is good for the gander so maybe we should cut them a little slack or at least keep the public declarations of our lust for other men to a minimum! In keeping with the spirit of equality I’ve made sure to add a couple of pictures for the boys also! So next time you feel like posting a picture of Channing Tatum in his pants don’t rule out seeing a similar picture of one of these ladies posted on your man’s page!
