Quick Fire Questions with Beauty Expert & Carter Beauty Owner Marissa Carter!

For this weeks Quick Fire Questions I caught up with the fabulous Marissa Carter. Marissa is the owner of Carter Beauty in Blackrock, Dublin and is a beauty expert who can tell us all we need to know :)

Q1. What big in beauty therapy this season?
Eyebrows have been big business for us this season. We do a treatment called HD Brows which has been a big hit with our customers.
Q2. What beauty product could you not live without?
My Pre-Cleanse from Dermalogica. It takes my make-up and mascara off faster than anything I’ve tried before.

Q3. Do you prefer Waxing or Threading and why?
I’ve had the IPL permanent hair reduction done all over so no more waxing for me but if I’m having my brows done I get the HD brows which involves waxing and threading. I find threading great for removing the very fine, almost invisible hairs that waxing can sometimes miss.
Q4. Whats the best thing about owning your own salon?
You would think all the free beauty treatments! In actual fact the best part is the fuzzy feeling I get when a customer gives positive feedback. I’m very proud of how hard my staff work.
Q5. When was the last time you laughed so hard your stomach hurt?
A twitter follower recently sent me a link to a comedian talking about waxing. I cried watching it. Absolutely brilliant! Here’s the link, you’ll cry too.

Q6. Whats the most common beauty mistake people make?
Possibly not taking good enough care of their skin and trying to mask over it with tan or make-up. I’m a big believer in good skin care. Sun, smoking, poor diet and alcohol all big no no’s for healthy skin.

Q7. Who’s your style inspiration? and How would you describe your style?
This is a hard one. I don’t have a particular person whose style I try to emulate but I’m very girly. Sofia Vergara has killer curves and always looks great.

Q8. Who’s your best friend?
My husband. He’s been my partner in crime for almost 8 years now.
Q9. What item of clothing should every girl have in their wardrobe?

A good blazer. Good for the bum, good for the tum.

10. What has been your best fashion buy?

Nude pair of heels from Aldo’s. Go with almost every outfit. Closed toe so I get away with wearing them in the winter too.

Q11. What’s been your biggest achievement?
Giving birth to my baby boy, Charlie. He’s almost 5 months old now. I keep saying to my husband…’Can you believe we made him?’ He’s so perfect. I’m head over heels, madly in love.
Q12. Tell us something people don’t know about you?

I’m ridiculously sentimental. I have a box at home that contains old cinema stubs, bus tickets, that sort of thing. Can’t throw any of it out. You might see me one day on that show ‘Hoarders’.
Q13. Tell us your top beauty secret?
Exfoliate and moisturise. Sounds pretty simple but I don’t go a day without a quick scrub in the shower. I use the exfoliation gloves on my body and either the Dermalogica Skin Prep Scrub or Kiehls Microdermabrasion scrub on my face. I follow up with an all over body moisturiser – usually the Carter Beauty Lime & Coconut Oil and then Dr. Murad’s Vitamin C serum, Dermalogica Hydrating Booster and Skin Smoothing Cream on my face.
Q14. What’s your worst habit?
I use my hands a lot when I talk. If I’m recording for television I have to make a concerted effort to hold back.
Q15. Do you wear fake tan? if so whats your favourite brand and why?
Yes. I have spray tans done maybe three times a month. We have our own brand of Carter Beauty tan so that’s all I use!

Q16.What’s next for Marissa Carter and Carter Beauty?
Where do I start?! I always have so many balls in the air and never like giving away too much information before it happens but here’s a few things I can tell you about: I’m speaking about running your own beauty business at the Professional Beauty trade show in the RDS on Sunday the 30th September.
Myself and my Carter Beauty team can be spotted on Celebrity Salon TV3 in September teaching the celebrities how to apply Georgia Salpa Lashes.
I have a new product launching in early 2013 that will be available in over 150 pharmacies nationwide. It’s a project I’ve been quietly working away on
which I know will excite every beauty mad woman in the country. That’s all I can say for now… x
