The hype was built, the speculation was rife and the dresses were dissected; last night was the 85th Academy Awards! As always, the Oscars tipped the award season pyramid as the most prestigious and swoon-worthy event and we waited with bated breath to see who would walk away with those little gold statues! In case you didn’t have the energy, time or sheer enthusiasm to wait up all night to see who the winners are, we’ve got it sorted out for you!

She beat out 9-year-old “Little Q” Quvenzhane Wallis (at 9-years-old, the youngest ever nominee for the award) as well as other nominees Jessica Chastain, Emmanuelle Riva and Naomi Watts for the honor! It was her first Academy Award but had been previously been nominated in the same category for her role in ‘Winter’s Bow’.
Unfortunately this leading lady had a little stumble on her way up the stairs to collect her reward! Luckily costar Bradley Cooper and heartthrob Hugh Jackman were on hand to help!! The starlet joked about her incident while making her speech saying:
“You guys are just standing up because you feel bad that I fell and that’s really embarrassing…This is nuts!!”

Other actresses were not so lucky on the night: Kirsten Stewart’s had a bit of a tough year what with all the romantic scandal and mixed movie review and last night appeared to be another fail to add to the list! The young woman arrived on The Oscars red carpet on crutches, quipping: “I’m an idiot.”As a reporter who enquired what happened! However according to her make-up artist, the starlet cut her foot badly on glass only two days before the show and it was painful to walk! Ouch! She still held her head high when presenting with Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe! Unfortunately the pain of the week might not be so easy to stomach with Kirsten’s movie ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2“’taking home 7 prizes at the infamous “worst film awards” The Razzies (including worst picture, and a worst actress gong for KStew) Yikes!
Other interesting events of the star-studded evening consisted of; Channing Tatum and Charlize Theron’s sensual stage ballroom dance as well as the incredible musical segment performances by Catherine Zeta-Jones (Chicago), Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls), Hugh Jackman (Les Mis) and of course, the legendary Barbara Streisand. Celeb host Seth Farlene received mixed reviews for his provocative hosting skills!
That’s all the goss from this year I’m afraid! Did your predictions come true? How many of the nominated films did you honestly see? Let us know your thoughts on the year’s biggest event in Showbiz!
