The Academy Awards, The BAFTAs, The Grammys… they can all take themselves a little seriously you know? now don’t get us wrong: the fashion, the films, the music, the stars – we all love! But when a show is giving out awards shaped like an extended middle finger, has a sense of humour in it’s categories and brings soem incredible rock icons out on the town, we definitely sit up and take notice! so here’s all the low down you need to know about this year’s NME Awards!
In the words of the magazine them self:
“New bands, cult heroes and rock legends will be out in force for our annual knees-up”

Unfortunately wins at this awards show aren’t always the best of news: Villain Of The Year went to beloved boy band member Harry Styles (beating out other nominees: David Cameron, Skrillex, Psy, Fred Macpherson, Azealia Banks).
That was not where the bad luck ended for this floppy haired messer as his band One Direction scored the not-so-fabulous Worst Band award. Yikes. Ah well all in the name of a bit of fun and judging by the other nominees in this category (Muse, Mumford & Sons, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran) somehow I doubt the boys will be boo-hooing into their pillows for much time at all!
